No not the Bob Dylan’s Song

Revelation 3:20 NKJV Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

Here Jesus shares in the book of Revelations that He will pursue us while not forcing Himself on us.  He will find us and come to the door of our hearts.  I stand at the door and knock.  Yet, the next move is ours, He knocks, but look at what he says next.  If anyone hears My voice and opens the door.  If He is knocking at the door why would we hear His voice?  Because this heavenly door is not literal.  Jesus is constantly, speaking to us, remember He is omnipresent, wherever you are He’s there already.  David said it this way; (Psalm 139:7-8 NKJV Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?  8 If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there).  

Therefore, you’re never out of the reach of Jesus AND He is always in pursuit.  Listen, He’s knocking now will you let Him in?  

Wait What?  You did that already do you still have to do that again?  Great question.  Luke reminds us in Hebrews Jesus also said 13:5 NKJV…For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”  Jesus died once and for all so that our sin would be forgiven, and we could become the righteousness of God because of that death.  So we never have to get saved again, Jesus ensured that it was a one time action taken.  Paul penned it like this: Romans 6:8-10 NKJV. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him,  9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him.  10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.  

But I get it, in this flesh we don’t always feel like we have access to Jesus’s presence.  Whether it be because of sin or pain/hurtful experiences.  I would tell you that David experienced exactly that and he went to God as such: Psalm 51:12 NKJV Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And uphold me by Your generous Spirit.  

The Holy Spirit is here in us now and can go nowhere, once we allowed Jesus in that Heavenly door, the Holy Spirit made himself at home in our hearts and John 16:13 NKJV. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.  If you want ask the Holy Spirit to take you back to that door Jesus once knocked at, then you will see that it is still opened and in fact unable to be shut.  Let that comfort you and seek the restoration of His Joy that is in you (and in His Word).  Then you will feel His presence once again, because it never went anywhere.
